Our Challenge

In the heart of Belagavi, a poignant problem unfolds as HIV-infected and underprivileged women grapple with the harsh reality of limited employment prospects. This scarcity of opportunities not only perpetuates their economic vulnerability but also reinforces the cyclical nature of poverty and societal stigmatization. These women, often burdened by the dual stigma of their health status and socio-economic circumstances, encounter barriers that impede their access to sustainable employment opportunities.

The Nayi Umeed BPO Centre has been established with the support of GIC with a deep understanding of the multifaceted challenges faced by HIV-infected and underprivileged women. The BPO is not merely a workplace; it's a transformative initiative aimed at dismantling these barriers. It will provide them with a platform for economic empowerment, reduce societal stigmatization, and offer a path towards a more secure and dignified future. This initiative aligns with GIC’s commitment to social responsibility and will have a lasting, positive impact on both the individuals.

Two New School Buses

Our Challenge

Utkarsha school has been providing free skill-based education to slums children. The number of children has raised significantly over the years. More than 1000 children are getting free education. These children are basically from poor slum families and migrant communities. Currently, we have four school buses and the increasing number of children leads to lack of space in these Buses. We had to take multiple trips to bring the children to the school. This may lead the children to get delayed to reach to the school. Or if we failed to reach the children it increases the absenteeism and there are chances of children dropping out from education.

With GIC’s support, we added two new school buses to the fleet, significantly improving the school’s transportation capacity and ensuring that more children can attend school regularly and on time. By providing direct and timely transportation, children arrive at school on time, ensuring they do not miss out on any part of their education. With reliable transportation, absenteeism decreased, and children are less likely to drop out, as the risk of missing school due to transportation issues.

Construction of One Floor & Six Additional Classrooms

Our Challenge

Mahesh Foundation is facing significant challenges in meeting the demand for quality education among underprivileged children due to overcrowded classrooms and insufficient facilities. Currently, the existing infrastructure cannot accommodate the growing number of students, making it imperative to build a new school. The current lack of adequate space and resources not only compromises the quality of education but also restricts the foundation’s ability to extend its reach to more children in need. To fulfill its mission of providing accessible and high-quality education, it is crucial to establish a new school building that can support and serve 2000 children effectively.

To address the pressing need for better educational infrastructure at Mahesh Foundation, we propose a solution where the General Insurance Corporation (GIC) supports the construction of one floor and six additional classrooms on another floor of the new school building total benefiting 700 underprivileged children. This contribution will significantly help alleviate the overcrowding issue by accommodating a larger number of students in a more conducive learning environment. This partnership with GIC will play a crucial role in ensuring that every child at Mahesh Foundation receives the education they deserve.
